Noted Tamil poet Vairamuthu “introduced” his book of 40 short stories, titled “Short Stories by Vairamuthu”, in the Capital on Sunday.
Speaking to a packed audience at the Tamil Sangam auditorium, the six-time national award-winning lyricist explained how ideas for short stories can be conceived.
Smallest moment
“Short stories can be created in just a fraction of a second. Even the simplest and smallest moment of your life can make for a short story,” he said.
The stories in the book are based on his life experiences. “I wrote the book in a year, but the stories are from events spread over the past 40 years. I am happy that the book is being well-received and understood by people across all generations.”
Tamil literature
He urged the Tamil diaspora in the city to promote and read more Tamil literature. “In this fast-paced life, we need to preserve our culture. I hope stories that I have written can give a sense of values and cultures to the future generations.”
The book, which was launched in October, was “introduced” by Thavathiru Kundrakudi Ponnambala Adigalar in the presence of Delhi Tamil Sangam president V. Balasubramanian and vice-president K.V.K. Perumal.
