I had always wanted to be part of the film industry, says Yamini
When Coimbatore-based Yamini expressed her wish to take the plunge into films, her parents were a tad uncertain. I was asked to complete my studies first, get into a job and secure my career before I started experimenting. My father is a businessman, and my mother is a homemaker. Obviously, I do not have any film connection, says the IT professional, who is all set to make her film debut with debutant Sasikumarans Papparapaam.
The film revolves around a dead man, who comes back to life during his funeral procession.
Vinoth Kishan, who played the antagonist in Naan Mahan Alla plays the lead in it along with Ishaara (of Sathuranka Vettai fame) and Yamini.
So, how did Yamini bag the offer? I had always wanted to be part of the film industry and I had had a few modelling stints to my credit. The Papparapaam team had seen my pictures and they approached me for the role. I had a screen test and I was on board soon after. Since this is my first feature film; I am really excited about it and looking forward to the release, she says.
Talking about her maiden venture, Yamini says, I cannot reveal much about the role, but my character is crucial to the plot. I do not think any actress has done a role of this kind before. It was fun being part of the film and everything just fell into place once I was on the set. The film is expected to hit the screens in a couple of months.
In the meantime, Yamini is considering other offers. I have been getting some good offers, but I am waiting for the right script and team for my next outing, she says.
