Kannur: Revenue minister E Chandrasekharan has said the government would give priority to solve problems faced by the landless people. The government would settle around 89,000 applications pending in tribunals across the state, the minister said.
"There are many who have land and house but don't have any supporting documents, while there are some who neither have land nor house.
Then there are others whose cases are pending with the tribunal," he said after inaugurating the new auditorium in the Collectorate complex here on Saturday.
Those who possess land without necessary documents are same as those having no land. To address their woes, a meeting of revenue officials and people's representatives would be held at district level, he said.
The government has to solve the problems faced by the landless in a speedy way, the minister said.
Then only it would be able to assess the exact number of the landless people and address their problems effectively, he said, adding there is no justification for the delay in settling long-pending applications.
