Body pulled from creek believed to be a local

Police have confirmed the body found inside a car in a creek in Victoria's north is a man.

The overturned Holden Captiva SUV was found floating in House Creek in Wodonga on Saturday morning around 8.30am when a passerby spotted it.

Police, the State Emergency Service and the Country Fire Authority pulled the car from the water around 5pm .

Although not formally identified, police say they believe the man is a local in his 30s.

Police are investigating his death.

The death takes the state's road toll to 152 for the year, up from 132 at the same stage last year.
