Hyderabad: The Khairatabad Ganesh will appear as 'Sakthi Peeta Shiva Nagendra Maha Ganapathi' this year. An image of the upcoming idol was released by Khairatabad MLA Ch Ramchandra Reddy (BJP) on Saturday.
"As the Telangana state was hit by drought for two consecutive years due to scanty rainfall, several farmers had committed suicide. The Khairatabad Ganesh, this year, symbolises bountiful rains.
An image of Lord Balaji will also be installed on the left side of the 58-feet Ganesh idol, while one of Lord Krishna (Govardhanagiri) will be on the right side," Ganesh Utsav Committee organising secretary Raj Kumar told TOI.
Work pertaining to the idol began 10 days ago and would be completed by August-end and kept ready for Ganesh Chaturthi that falls on September 5. "Natural colours will be used wherever required to promote 'eco-friendly' Ganesh idols," he said.
