Fitidis promised to work hard and make Uganda proud

Rally driver Christakis Fitidis will lead the team of Ugandan drivers in next weekend's in the three day Oryx Energy rally of Tanzania from July 8-10 in Bagamoyo.

Fitidis was handed the leadership of team Uganda which includes the crew of Jas Mangat and Joseph Kamya, Duncan Mubiru and George Ssemakula, Yassin Nasser and Ali Katumba by National Council of Sports (NCS) assistant secretary David Katende on Saturday.

"You are not just drivers, but you are ambassadors of Uganda and you must Keep Uganda's flag high and return with good results," Katende told the team.

Fitidis who is navigated by Eric Nzamwita promised to work hard and make Uganda proud.

"I think I'm the only driver who drives with the Uganda flag on the car and I promise we shall do the best we can," the 62-year-old stated.

The Ugandan crews will be targeting the 140 points the winner earns for the national championship.
