Rajasthan: Police arrest MLA’s son Siddharth whose BMW crushed three to death

The BMW car allegedly belonged to independent Rajasthan MLA Nand Kishor Maharia. Maharaia’s son Siddharth and two others were in the vehicle which subsequently rammed into a stationary police van, injuring three policemen.

“The incident took place well past midnight on Saturday near Saint Xavier Senior Secondary School in Ashok Nagar. MLA Nand Kishore Maharia’s son was in the BMW which rammed into an auto (three-wheeler) and subsequently into a stationed police van, injuring the policemen inside,” Ashok Nagar police station SHO Bala Ram said.

“Wherever a big car and youngsters are involved, there is doubt of alcohol consumption. Nothing like that,” said Sidharth, son of MLA Nand Kishor.

Nand Kishor Maharia, an independent MLA from Fatehpur assembly constituency in Sikar district, told The Indian Express, “Siddharth was with his uncle’s son, who studies engineering in Bangalore. The vehicle was driven by driver Ramesh and they were coming from the direction of Rajmandir cinema. It was dark and raining and the car hit a three wheeler which was coming from the direction of University Maharani’s College. The three-wheeler did not have a radium number plate. Subsequently, the car also hit a stationary police van.”

“We are saddened that three persons died in the accident. It is unfortunate,” the MLA said. As for the ownership of the car, he said that, “it belongs to our firm,” without elaborating further.
