Between July 4 and July 10, comic book nerds will be able to download a host of Indian comic books (in their sample versions) for free from the comfort of their homes, or anywhere else with a good internet connection.

The first edition of the Alto Comic Book Celebration Week, presented by Comic Con India, will be held on Read-Where (http://www.readwhere.com). This week-long event is an extension of the 'Free Comic Book Weekend' initiative that Comic Con India had started in 2013.

Jatin Varma, founder of Comic Con India, says, "I am extremely excited to flag off our latest initiative to promote Indian comics and creators. We are bring the latest and the best in Indian comics to fans across the country."

He added: "In return, we hope they will support their local creators and not only download the free samples but also purchase the full comics. Additionally, we have tons of awesome contests and giveaways for each day of the week."

DOWNLOAD GRAPHIC NOVELS AS WELL

Some of the publishing participants will be Amar Chitra Katha, Chariot Comics, Graphic India, Abhijeet Kini, Campfire Graphic Novels, Holy Cow Entertainment, Meta Desi Comics, Saumin Patel and Shamik Dasgupta. Girija Jhunjhunwala, who is the director of Campfire Graphic Novels, says, "Campfire Graphic Novels is happy to be a part of the Comic Book Celebration Week endeavour."

"This provides readers with an opportunity to dig into our extensive catalogue of titles based on classics, biographies, mythology and history. We hope that they enjoy their reads," Jhunjhunwala added.
