Show of solidarity for Palestine

LAHORE - Muslims across the world including Pakistan yesterday marked Youm-ul-Quds in protest of Israel’s illegal occupation of Aqsa Mosque.

All religious and religio-political parties have organised seminars and taken out rallied in different cities to mark the day on last Friday of Ramazan.

In Lahore, different rallied were taken out by religious parties including Majlise Wahdatul Muslimeen, Islami Tehreek, Imamia Students Organisation and other at The Mall, in front of Lahore Press Club and other location.

A large number of people of different walks of life including women and children participated in the rallies and express solidarity with Palestine cause. Holding placards and banners, the participants chanted slogans against Israel and America and vowed to continue moral support of the depressed nation.

The Juma tul Wida, last Friday of the holy month, is being observed as Al-Quds day since 1979, on the directions of Imam Khomeini, Iranian spiritual leader who brought Islamic revolution in the country by overthrowing Raza Shah Pehlivi government. 

Shia leader Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi led the procession in Lahore. It was also participated by Jamiat Ulema Pakistan, Sunni Ittehad Council and other.

A separate mass rally of Shia Ulema Council, Jafaria Students Organisation, Jafaria Youth, Wafaqul Madaris Al-Shia was led by Allama Sibtain Haider Sabzwari, president of Shia Ulema Council Punjab chapter, from Lahore Press Club to PIA building. Acting chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Liaqat Baloch and JUP Punjab President Qari Zawar Bahadur also addressed the rally and stressed unity of the Muslims to get the Palestine state liberated from the illegal occupation of the Zionist regime.

The speakers said that Israel was an illegal state being patronised by USA establishment to undermine the Muslims of the Palestine. They said the OIC should play its due role in resolution of the issue and avoid the internal rift of Iran and Saudi Arabia.
