Man forges woman's election card to become her 'husband'
Rajkot: An woman doctor practising ayurveda in Upleta town was shocked to find documentary 'evidence' that she was married to a man against whom she had twice lodged a complaint of harassment!
When the woman appeared in the court two days ago in connection with the cases she had lodged, the accused Darshan Gajera produced her election ID which mentioned that he was her husband.
However, the woman found out that this tenacious electronic and communications engineer had created her fake election card.
The special operations group (SOG) of Rajkot (rural) police arrested 25-year-old Gajera on Friday following another complaint lodged by the woman.
Police said Gajera was madly in love with the woman even as she rejected his proposals. Despite two complaints she lodged against him, he continued to try and get in relationship with her.
Scared to approach her directly in the beginning, Gajera first created a fake account on Facebook in the name of Mihir Patel. He sent her a friend request which she accepted and both were in regular contact through chatting on FB. However, when the woman insisted on meeting him, Gajera got worried that his identity would be disclosed.
Gajera told the woman that he was going to China for business purpose and would meet her on returning. After few months, Gajera introduced himself as Mihir Patel's friend and told the woman that Patel had died in accident. He also told her that Patel had sent a mobile phone for her.

"Gajera then tried to proposed the woman but she rejected his advances. Angered by her rejections, Gajera threatened her in 2014 following which she lodged a complaint with a local police station. But he did not give up and started the process to create a fake election ID card of the woman. He successfully inserted his name as her husband into the card but the woman did not know about it. When he continued to call her, the woman lodged another complaint against him in 2015,'' said a police officer in Upleta.
Gajera was sent to judicial custody.
