On the lines of the BC Roy national awards given every year to renowned doctors on National Doctors' Day, the Telangana government too has announced similar awards to be given to government doctors from next year onwards.

Hyderabad: On the lines of the BC Roy national awards given every year to renowned doctors on National Doctors' Day, the Telangana government too has announced similar awards to be given to government doctors from next year onwards.
This was announced by state health minister C Laxma Reddy at Bhadrachalam in Khammam district, where he was on a two-day tour to review the preparedness of government hospitals in tribal areas in tackling seasonal diseases.

He added that the new state award for government doctors would help motivate those working in primary health centres, community health centres, area hospitals and district hospitals.
Meanwhile, office bearers of Telangana government doctors' association led by state president Dr Pallam Praveen observed the day with an informal get-together at Vidya Bhavan in Koti even as corporate hospitals announced special packages for patients.
On the occasion, city-based Kamineni Hospital group announced a 25 per cent discount on all its routine Out Patient investigations from July 2 to July 8.
