JAMMU, July 1: The victims of Pakistani shelling in Arnia,  staged a dharna and protest demonstration at Tehsil office Arnia, here today, against the Government apathy towards them.
The protesters, led by  JKNPP provincial president Rajesh Padgotra,  were raising slogan against BJP Government at  Centre and State. They accused the Government of being insensitive towards their plights.
While addressing the protesting people, Mr  Padgotra reminded the promises made by BJP leaders and non-fulfillment of the same.  “At Kothey Mahasha Arnia,  the BJP MP  Jugal Kishor Sharma,  after attending the cremation of 6 persons of Kothey Mahasha,  had promised to give employment to nearest kin of the deceased and ex-gratia payment of Rs 10 to Rs 15 lakhs to their families and Rs 2  lakhs  to injured. The similar announcement was also made by the then Chief Minister  Omar Abdullah.  However, even after  lapse of more than one and half year,  nothing has been done in this regard,” he said.
Mr  Padgotra also castigated the Union Government  for not allotting 5 marlas land in safer zone to  each family  residing in border area like Arnia. He also reminded that the  then Director General (DG)of BSF,  D K Pathak had  announced to provide full security cover to the Border public and Prime Minister  Narendra Modi had also promised to effectively deal with the situation on broader  but all these announcement  proved hollow.
“People of border areas are still suffering and if the Government does not  fulfill its  promises for their security and safety, the NPP will start an  agitation  in nearest future,” he warned.
Among others, who addressed the protest demonstration, included Khajur Singh Sarpanch, Udheybir Singh, Raj Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Tarsem Lal, Rattan Lal and  Maka Ram.
