Oregon pitcher and four-year letterman at Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora, David Peterson, was named to the finalized USA Baseball collegiate national team roster on Friday.

Peterson — a 6-foot-6, 242-pound left-hander — started 13 games for the Ducks in 2016, compiling a 4-5 record with a 3.63 ERA and 61 strikeouts in 74 ⅓ innings.

During his senior year at Regis Jesuit, Peterson was captain of his team and finished the season 3-0 on the mound with a 1.15 ERA. He recorded 40 strikeouts in 44 ⅓ innings pitched and held opponents to a .180 batting average.

He was selected in the 28th round of the 2014 draft, 854th overall, by the Boston Red Sox but chose to attend Oregon instead.

After his sophomore season in Eugene in 2015, Peterson was one of 29 players that competed in the training camp for the USA Baseball collegiate national team.

The team (2-0-1) has two games on its California schedule on Friday and Saturday. The team will fly to Taiwan for a five-game series against Chinese Taipei from July 5-9. From there, the squad takes on Japan from July 12-17 before facing Cuba from July 23-27.
