Everton sign goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg from Fulham

Everton have signed goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg from Fulham for an undisclosed fee.

Stekelenburg spent last season on loan at Southampton where he made 17 appearances and will rejoin former boss Ronald Koeman at Goodison Park after signing a three-year deal.

The 33-year-old had been a Fulham player since joining from Roma back in 2013, but he never made a mark on the club, playing just 21 times.

"I'm very happy -- things have moved very fast over the last couple days," Stekelenburg told evertontv.

"He [Koeman] has come to Everton and he called me a few days after asking if I was willing to follow him. It wasn't difficult to make that choice.

"He's one of the best coaches -- he's straight talking, he's fair and he has confidence in me which counts as well.

"I've been here [in England] for a couple of seasons and I love the Premier League. It's fantastic that I can stay."

Everton start their 2016-17 Premier League campaign at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Aug. 13.
