BHOPAL: In the first cabinet meeting with newly inducted ministers on Friday morning, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that performance of all ministers will be evaluated every three months. Ministers will henceforth, have to submit progress report on their department works every quarter. The first appraisal of new ministers will be in October this year.
Chouhan cabinet was expanded on Thursday.
Addressing the cabinet meeting at the state secretariat on Friday, chief minister Chouhan directed each minister to randomly pick five names from the CM Helpline list of complainants every week. “Ministers have been asked to speak directly to complainants and ask if their problems have been resolved by the concerned departments,” said cabinet minister and government spokesman Narottam Mishra.
“Ministers will be given charge of districts where they will have to compulsorily spend at least two days and halt nights in the interior areas. One of these two days should be dedicated on tracking implementation of developmental projects and government policies and schemes in the districts,” Mishra added.
Chouhan also reminded that being part of the council of ministers means more responsibility towards the organisation. Ministers, specially the new inductees, have been instructed to meet legislators and listen to the grievances of party workers. “Chief minister said that ministers’ responsibility is living up to the expectations of the 7.5 crore people in the state. He said there is no alternative to hard work and ministers should work for the people and not for personal agenda,” Narottam Mishra said. Chouhan quoted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s famous line, “Naa khaunga, naa khaane dunga” and advised council of ministers to stay away from corruption.
He warned ministers to be wary of who they are clicking photographs and selfies with because snapshots with a wrong person gets the entire government into trouble. Speaking to his former team of 21-ministers, he said that the family (cabinet) has grown in number and hence, there will be division of work. He said that the old cabinet members will have lesser departments but together the new team of 30 will work towards mission 2018. Former DGP Surendra Sinh who retired yesterday was welcomed by the cabinet when he reached Vallabh Bhavan on Friday morning.
