Permali Gloucester Ltd (
www.permali.co.uk) has won a contract to supply composite ballistic armour panels to Supacat, which makes high-mobility vehicles for the defence industry. The panels will provide ballistic protection on a large order of HMT Extenda vehicles that Supacat will be delivering in 2017-18.
The contract was won following a competition that required Permali to demonstrate the ballistic performance of its products in the wide range of environmental temperatures the vehicle will be exposed to.
Stu Olden, sales manager for land systems at Permali, said: “This is a significant contract for Permali. Measured against credible competition, we have demonstrated that we can maintain our position as a world leader in the development of composite technology for military platforms.”
Ben Gaffney, Supacat’s deputy head of new programmes, said: “Permali’s comprehensive bid response — together with their at-risk testing and engineering design activity — gave us the requisite levels of confidence to place the order. We’re looking forward to working with Permali to deliver this exciting new addition to the HMT vehicle offering.”
