Liverpool set to offload out of favour striker

Reports today suggest that the Reds may be willing to offload former Aston Villa striker, Christian Benteke, who was considered one of the best in the Premier League. The player has endured a frustrating transition at Anfield where he has failed to cement a starting place, falling behind Origo, Firmino and Sturridge in the pecking order.

Liverpool are reportedly looking to demand £30m for the Belgium international so that they can recoup the majority of their outlay with Crystal Palace looking favourites despite the player's personal terms being relatively high. Liverpool have made substantial investment already in new players with Sadio Mane coming in and with more players rumoured to be on their way this transfer window.

The player has a big salary of £120k-a-week and became Liverpool's second most expensive signing of all-time but scored just 10 goals for his club last season. Crystal Palace, unlike West Ham who were previously showing an interest will be able to meet the players salary demands. West Ham co-owner David Sullivan admitted that they 'admired' the forward but would be unable to meet the his salary demands.

The 25-year-old scored 49 goals in all competitions for Aston Villa with 23 coming in his first season in the Premier League after his move from Genk in 2012.
