Hatyari Khoh
Distance from Indore: 35 kms
How to reach: Take the Indore-Nemawar Road, turn to the lane for Kampel Village, drive for a kilometre more to reach Hatyari Khoh
Hatyari Khoh gets its name from a legend that states that the British used this place as a execution spot for defaulters.
There’s a deep trench here and the spot is very popular among youngsters.
Patalpani waterfalls
Distance from Indore: 35 kms
How to reach: You can avail train services or drive from Mhow through Kodariya, to the waterfall
This scenic beauty is one of the most popular and easily accessible picnic spots near Indore. “Nobody has yet been able to measure the depth of the heavenly waterfall and that’s where it gets its name from; Patalpani, because its depth is till patal (hell),” shares Bhanu Pratap, an avid traveller from the city. Monsoon is an ideal time to visit this place since the waterfall is picturesque. One can take a road trip to the place. “The beauty of the countryside is even more soothing, so one must plan a trip to the place by train to enjoy the best views. The waterfall is infamous for causing deaths of irresponsible tourists and the authorities have become strict in the last two years. I would advice people to be cautious with their children and abide by the rules written on the board at the parking area,” adds Bhanu Pratap.

Sitlamata Fall
Distance from Indore: 60 kms
How to reach: Drive from Manpur via NH3, for 4 km to reach the waterfall
Sitlamata fall is one of those few waterfalls that allows you to get drenched and enjoy the cool water. Puneet Agrawal, who recently went on a trip to the place, shares, “The road that leads to the waterfall is very beautiful and therefore one must plan a trip to the spot by road. There are also two-three caves nearby that one must visit. It is said that these caves were the hiding places for the Holkar state pindaris.” The place is also a photographer’s paradise.
Bamniya Kund and Mehendi Kund
Distance from Indore: 40 kms
How to reach: A 4 km trek from Choral and a further 4 km trek from Bamniya Kund to reach Mehendi Kund
Both these places define serenity and calmness. They are popular amongst families for weekend trips. Vivek Verma, who recently took a trip to the place with his friends and family, says, “It’s better if you take out some time to explore these places. The drive is adventurous and there are trekking options here. The place has small waterfalls that add to the beauty of the place. One can also think of having a daal-baati party here.”
Tincha Falls
Distance from Indore: 25 kms
How to reach: Head to the Khandwa Road, drive for 20 km and take a left before Simrol village
Situated just 20 minutes away from the DAVV university campus, Tincha Falls is one of the most sought after getaway spots amongst youngsters. Parth Bhadoriya, a post graduation student who stays near the university campus, shares, “My friends and I keep visiting this exuberant place where water falls from a height of about 300 ft. The dripping water has many cascades which let one enjoy for hours in water.” Yash Vardhan Solanki, a passionate photographer, adds, “The sight of the water dripping from different directions on the mountain looks like milk pouring down and the sight is picturesque.”
