Computers & Media Dealer’s Association (CMDA), Pune has rolled out several crucial projects for its members to generate business for channel partners. The association has developed a mobile app which intends to enhance networking among the CMDA members and non members. The association recently announced the new managing committee for the year 2016-2017. Sanjeev Pathare, owner of Computer Shoppee has been elected as a president and Vivek Ashturkar, owner of Prominent System Solutions has been elected as a secretary for the current fiscal year.
Speaking to Channel Times, Pathare said that enhancement of member engagement is his main priority. Pathare said that the association has rolled out projects such as CMDA Mobile App and E Waste collection center. He said that the association will also collaborate with other local associations in the city and the local municipal corporation in order generate more business for its members.
“We unveiled the CMDA mobile app during our AGM and will soon launch it officially for our members. We are also launching a web portal along with the app. The app is a one stop shop for partners where they can connect, buy and sell IT products. The app will also provide business information and alerts and generate leads”, Pathare said.
He said that the app will be available for customers for free of cost in the second phase. “We are collaborating with other trade associations in Pune and jointly trying to address the issue of OLS. We intend to build a support system for the trader community in the city by enhancing inter community business”, Pathare said.

CMDA Pune has also announced the launch of E-Waste collection center. The association has partnered with Pune Municipal corporation (PMC) to collect E Waste and send it to authorized E-Waste collection centers for disposal and refurbishing purpose. “As Pune is emerging as a smart city, the problem of E Waste pollution is set to become major in the city. We aim to help PMC minimize the risk of hazardous effects of E Waste on the environment”, he said.
Pathare said that though OLS factor adversely affected the traditional channel business, but the trend is gradually changing as the deep discounting by eCommerce companies has come under control to a large extent. He said that channel partners are optimistic about GST and hope that the law will bring uniformity in the business of the two marketplaces.
The software industry is also prospering in the city and expected to surpass Bengaluru in terms of revenue generation from exports. Pune ranks second in the country in software exports after Bangalore. In the financial year 2012-13, Pune’s software exports were at INR 29,589.25 crore. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently launched 14 projects of Pune’s Smart City Plan. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also announced to Make Pune a “Startup Hub” of the country. Pathare said that it is the right time for partners to explore opportunities coming up in Pune with several crucial projects such as smart city and Start up India.
The new managing committee includes Narendra Modi (Vice President), Satyan Shah (Treasurer), Mahesh More (Joint Secretary), Anand Jagdale (Joint Treasurer). The other committee members include Sarang Satarkar, Vishwanath Hunchagi, Rahul Hajare, Mujaffar Inamdar, Deepak Golande and Chintamani Kuber while the advisory committee members include Aniruddha Menavlikar, Jayant Shete and Narendra Bheda.
