Super 30 founder Anand Kumar has been invited by edX, an online learning platform supported by Harvard University and MIT, to teach mathematics, media reports said on Friday

Started in 2002 by Kumar, Super 30 offers free coaching to students from underprivileged background seeking admission into top engineering colleges. Every year, 30 deserving students from economically weaker sections are selected and trained before they appear the IIT entrance exam.

As edX also offers a few courses free of cost, MIT professor Anant Agarwal said in a letter to Kumar that the format and purpose of edX and Super 30 had similarities in several aspects and if they worked together, a large number of students from across the world could benefit from it.

Kumar, who could not pursue studies at Cambridge University due to financial reasons, said it was heartening that institutions like MIT and Harvard were not only praising the efforts of Super 30 but also trying to make it part of their system.
