World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim seems to be in love with not only India but also PM Narendra Modi and RBI governor Raghuram Rajan. The World Bank said on Thursday it would lend India more than $1 billion for its huge solar energy programme, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi sought climate change funds from its visiting head.
We take a look at 5 things what World Bank Group President has to say about India, PM Narendra Modi & Raghuram Rajan:
1) Terming himself as a ‘big fan’ of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim said that India under Modi’s leadership has done well economically over the last two years with low inflation rate, strong growth.
2) Further praising Modi, he said “If you look at specific programmes like Swachh Bharat, it’s amazing!”
3) Kim called Rajan a great central bank governor and added that the government will continue to maintain the independence of central bank. He said, “He (Rajan) is so well respected. I think he has done a great job.”
4) Prime Minister Modi’s personal commitment toward renewable energy, particularly solar, is the driving force behind these investments,” he added.
