ADAM Zampa and Chris Lynn’s Guyana Amazon Warriors have won a thriller against Brad Hodge’s St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League.

Set a target of 165 to win, the Warriors got home with a ball to spare and four wickets in hand, with Jason Mohammed (42 off 29) the hero.

Hodge scored 38 off 32 for the Patriots, before falling to Zampa, who collected 3-34 off his four overs.

St Kitts ended up on a competitive total of 9-164, thanks largely to a 17-ball 38 from Devon Thomas.

The highlight of Lynn’s match was a stunning catch on the ropes to remove Thisara Perera (20 off 12). Perera connected sweetly with a pull shot off the the bowling of Sohail Tanvir, only to be caught on the ropes by Lynn, who momentarily appeared to be running in the mid-air.

The Australian was undone by a special bit of fielding himself in Guyana’s innings, run out spectacularly by Patriots skipper Faf du Plessis for six. Called through for a quick single by Mohammed, Lynn was caught short of his mark by a direct hit from du Plessis at short cover.

Unfortunately for the Patriots, du Plessis was caught short in the final over of the game, spilling a chance in the deep to gift the Warriors the final two runs they needed for victory.
