The Nashik Thermal Power Station of Maharashtra State Electricity Generation Company (Mahagenco) will plant 13,000 saplings in its open fields in Eklahara Colony on Friday.
A rally, 'Vriksha Dindi', was organised on Thursday to raise awareness among the masses abotu the event.
"We have decided to plant 13,000 saplings in the area with the help of school children, citizens, employees, officers and contractors on July 1 to be in line with the government's plan of planting 2 crore saplings on July 1 to mark Van Mahotsav that is being carried out across the country simultaneously," a senior officer from Mahagenco said.

About 500 people and students of the VN Naik High School in Eklahara Colony participated in the rally, the officer said.
Various agencies in Nashik district have planned to plant 30.26 lakh saplings on the day of which the forest department share is more than 25 lakh and the various government officials, departments, individuals and the organisations will also be pitching in with the rest for achieving the target of 5 lakh plantations.
The district collectorate has planned for plantation of more than 3,700 saplings.
