Naresh Shenoy’s police custody extended

The III Judicial Magistrate of First Class has extended police custody of Naresh Shenoy, main accused in the murder of RTI activist Vinayak Baliga, by two days.

Following his formal arrest on Sunday, Naresh Shenoy was produced before the Magistrate on Monday who allowed his police custody till Thursday.

On Thursday, Investigation Officer K. Tilakchandra sought custody of Naresh Shenoy for five more days.

He said that the police have seized the car reportedly used by Naresh Shenoy to move out of the city after the murder on March 21.

They have also seized the scooter reportedly used by the three assailants, who are among the six arrested in the case.

He said that they, as part of investigation, visited places where Naresh Shenoy reportedly met the other accused and hatched the murder plan.

Further investigation

Mr. Tilakchandra said that the police needed Naresh Shenoy’s presence during their investigation at the places where he had stayed.

They also had to question Naresh Shenoy about the whereabouts of Vignesh Nayak, the owner of the multi-utility vehicle that was reportedly used in the crime.

Magistrate Manjunath permitted the police to have Naresh Shenoy in their custody till Saturday.

The Magistrate permitted counsel for Naresh Shenoy to file objections to the application filed by the police seeking permission to subject the accused to polygraph, brain mapping and narco-analysis test.
