Noynoy Aquino To Face Criminal Charges From SAF 44 Relatives

One day after he stepped down from the office, former president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III will face criminal charges from the relatives of SAF 44.

In an e-mail sent to Philippine Entertainment Portal, Atty. Ferdinand Topacio confirmed that the families will file multiple homicide case against Aquino today July 1, 2016.

The families will be assisted during the filing of case by the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC).

Aside from the former Chief Executive, former PNP chief Allan Purisima and former SAF Director General Getulio Napenas will also face criminal charges.

The SAF 44 are the 44 Philippine National Police (PNP) Special Action Force troopers who lost their lives during the Mamasapano clash last January 2015.

The clash left more than 60 fatalities, including the 44 elite policeman, 18 members of Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and five civilians.

Aquino’s immunity from lawsuit has already expired now that his 6-year term as the President of the Philippines has expired.

Yesterday, Aquino turned over his post to his successor President Rodrigo Duterte. The inauguration was held at the Malacañang Palace’s Rizal Hall.

The oath-taking attended by around 600 guests, including Duterte’s family, close friends, local officials, and other individuals.

Meanwhile, Aquino has returned to his family home in Times Street Quezon City after the inauguration.
