: The Government Interim Complex has been provided 24 x 7 power supply after the Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (SPDCL) completed laying of underground power lines.

Electrical engineers of the SPDCL have completed laying of an underground high power 600 KVA line to the complex. Two new lines — a line extending to 27 km from the 220 kV sub station at Tadikonda and 22 km power line from 132 KV sub station at Tadepalli —have been laid providing uninterrupted power supply to the new Secretariat complex.

Superintending Engineer, SPDCL, B Jayabharath Rao said that senior engineers had worked round the clock to ensure that one of the basic amenities was provided at the Secretariat complex.

The new Secretariat would also have high-capacity transformers, a 1,000 KVA, 1,500 KVA and 315 KVA transformers providing the vital link to transmission of quality power.

Divisional Engineer, Rural, V. Hanumayya, ADE K. Babu were present.

lines dismantled

A 33 kV power cable, which has been supplying power to many areas in Mangalagiri and Tadepalli towns from Vijayawada, was dismantled by the SPDCL engineers on Thursday. The engineers completed the work to facilitate beautification of Prakasam Barrage and also to undertake repairs to the apron.

There were moments of nostalgia as the sub station at Tadepalli was the oldest in the district. Since 1951, many areas in Nulakpet, Undavalli and Tadepalli used to draw power from the 132 kV sub station near the Pandit Nehru Bus Station. A team of engineers led by Assistant Divisional Engineer S. Rajesh Khanna completed the work.
