The major sponsor for the Duavata Crime Prevention Carnival in Labasa, Pinto Industries Ltd, has commended the carnival committee for the week-long carnival programme.

Pinto Industries’ head of accounts and customer relations manager Lileshni Narayan also commended the carnival theme of; ‘Safety for Everyone’s Safety’.

“I am delighted at the aim and vision of the carnival over the last four years of fighting against crime in the Northern Division,” Mrs Narayan said.

“Pinto industry really wants to work with Fiji Police Force in trying to curb criminal acts in the Northern Division.”

Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources Mereseini Vuniwaqa had also commended the committee for the projects undertaken to date when she opened the carnival last Saturday. “The projects undertaken by the carnival committee are very visible in the North from bus shelters to a Police vehicle for the Wainikoro Police Community Post to help the fight against crime.”

It was a creative night where the Labasa crowd witnessed creative attire worn by the 23 contestants. Some walked the runway with attire made from leaves, newspaper and crash bags.
