FEO Extends 2016 School Registration

The Fijian   Elections   Office [FEO] has extended the 2016   School Electronic Voter

Registration [EVR] drive in all major towns and centres around Fiji for another two weeks.

“Since the beginning of the 2016 School Voter Registration drive, we have been receiving several requests from members of the public who either wanted to update their addresses with us or get a replacement ID card and that is why FEO has extended the registration drive to major town centres,” Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem said.

Eligible voters who wish to register need to bring their birth certificates and a valid form of ID to register.

Meanwhile, Fiji Sun spoke to some Year 12 and 13 Nasinu Secondary students who registered to vote in the upcoming 2018 election.

Year 12 student Camari Raluve, 18, of Kadavu said she wanted to have her say in the next election.

“I want my voice and my vote to be recognised in the next election because I feel every Fijian has the right to vote and we have the right to choose our government,” Camari said.

Year 12 student, Ananaisa Koroi, 19, of Gau said he wanted to know how the election worked and he felt that he could make a difference with his vote.

“I want my vote to count because I feel as a student; there is a lot that can be done for us,” Ananaisa said.
