Celebratory pistol shot hits man at party

A dairy owner and property investor Santosh Nimbalkar (35) from Jejuri, Pune, has been arrested by the Kamothe police on attempt to murder charges after he allegedly misfired his licensed pistol causing a bullet injury to his friend Sachin Karande (36), a farmer.

Navi Mumbai: A dairy owner and property investor Santosh Nimbalkar (35) from Jejuri, Pune, has been arrested by the Kamothe police on attempt to murder charges after he allegedly misfired his licensed pistol causing a bullet injury to his friend Sachin Karande (36), a farmer.
DCP (zone 2) Vishwas Pandhare said, “On Wednesday night Nimbalkar and his friends Sachin Karande (34), Sachin Zagade (34) and Mahesh Bhagat (35), all residents of Pune had come to Malwan Tadka restaurant in sector 35, Kamothe, to celebrate Bhagat’s birthday.
Around 11.45 pm they left the restaurant and sat in Nimbalkar’s SUV. Nimbalkar, who was seated in the rear seat opened the sun-roof of the car and fired two bullets from his 0.22 bore pistol in celebration. The third bullet got stuck in the pistol’s trajectory chamber. When he attempted to adjust the setting the bullet misfired, pierced through the driver’s seat and hit Karande who became semi-conscious.”
