Watch: Brad Pitt narrates Terrence Malick's IMAX film 'Voyage of Time'

Behold the grand history of the cosmos and a celebration of life on Earth in Terrence Malick's Voyage of Time: The IMAX Experience, which released its first trailer Thursday.

The labor of love from acclaimed director Malick (The Thin Red Line, The Tree of Life), his first foray into documentary filmmaking, has been nearly four decades in the making. The 40-minute giant screen adventure hits IMAX theaters Oct. 7.

Brad Pitt, who starred in Malick's Tree of Life, narrates monumental events onscreen —  from the birth of the stars and galaxies to the explosion of diverse life forms on planet Earth, including humankind.

Malick showed the creation of the universe in 2011's Tree of Life, but the IMAX experience will be a whole other level as it explores "the universe, billions of years in the making."
