Entertainment » OtherPosted at: Jun 30 2016 6:58PM Mizoram Peace Day in a big wayAizawl, Jun 30 (UNI) Today was the second time in history that all the people of Mizoram joined hands to celebrate the historic Mizo Accord that ushered in an era of peace in the once troubled-torn Northeastern state. The people of Mizoram, across different political parties and church denominations, had erupted in euphoria on the night June 30, 1986, when the peace agreement was signed between the Indian government and the then outlawed Mizo National Front to end the 20-year-long bloody insurgency in Mizoram. Since then, the anniversary of the Remna Ni (Peace Day) was celebrated separately by different political parties, with usually the two main parties– Congress and MNF– engaging in war of words.
