'Barking mad' Harlow lawyer to become a teacher

A man who quit the law to become a teacher says family and friends have labelled him "barking mad".

Harlow-based lawyer and political strategist John Paul Goddard said he was applying as an unqualified teacher.

He has applied for posts in primary education and is only interested in east London schools that are not rated good or outstanding.

Research by TeachVac shows that nationally 15,883 education job adverts were placed in the first six months of the year.
