Manchester Inited's chances of adding some French flair to their midfield looks to be sliding with Juve’s Paul Pogba set to join Real Madrid.

It is believed that 23-year-old Pogba would rather stay put at Juve, rather than return to Old Trafford for £80m, where he made just seven appearances under Alex Ferguson, if a move to Madrid does not materialise.

Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola is believed to have advised Pogba to work under new boss Jose Mourinho for three years and improve ahead of a possible move to Real in the future, but the France international is said to be ‘impatient’ and eager to move to the Bernabeu sooner than 2019, when he would be 26.

Despite that setback, Pogba has not explicitly rejected United and Real’s own interest in the Frenchman has reportedly cooled, as they would prefer to sign Leicester enforcer N’Golo Kante.

United appointed Mourinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes, to help mediate during discussions with Raiola over a possible deal for Pogba and the club has made headway with the Dutch agent, who Alex Ferguson blamed for Pogba’s switch to Juve on a free transfer back in 2012.

Raiola’s clients, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, are expected to join United over the next week.
