City woman picked for int'l yoga contest in China
Nashik: City-based Durga Jadhav (28) will be representing the country in the international competition taking place in China on August 28.
She bagged the bronze medal at the national level yoga competition held on June 27 in Bengaluru on the International Day of Yoga, which saw around 700 candidates participating in the event, titled, Continental Yoga Competition.

The competition was organised by the Karnataka government in association with Yogsamskrutam University, Florida (USA) and Tamil Nadu Physical Education. It was the preliminary round for the international competition to be held in China in which only the first five winners are eligible to participate.
Durga took part in the 20-30 years category which had 30 participants in all.
"We were asked to do asasnas and hold each one of them for 30 seconds. Out of the 10 asanaas, we asked to perform five chosen after a draw of lots," said Durga, who has also won International Yoga certificates for International Yogasana and Title Championship 2012 and International Jury Certificate in two different competitions conducted by the government of Karnataka.
"It is difficult to hold one asana if one does not practice it regularly. The posture, the expression and the breathing should be perfect. Like other sports or fitness competitions, it is essential to have yoga competitions to promote it," said Durga.
She said the experience in the competition was a good learning process.
