Couple enter suicide pact, girl survives

Hyderabad: A 22-year-old school teacher died while his teenage girlfriend survived after they entered into a suicide pact by hanging from a tree at Moinabad on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Naveen, 22, a physical education teacher (PET) at Rainbow School, Old Bowenpally. His 16-year-old girlfriend is a student of an Intermediate college at Bowenpally.Love blossomed between the couple a year ago.
As the parents of the girl were against the relationship, the couple decided to end their lives and they went on a scooter to an isolated place at Surangal road in Moinabad. "The couple committed suicide by hanging themselves from a tree with a rope. While Naveen died, the noose of the girl snapped and she survived," Moinabad inspector G Srinivas said.
The girl informed locals about the death of Naveen. Police were immediately alerted. Family members of Naveen alleged that he committed suicide due to threats from the girl's family. Police registered a case under section 174 (suspicious death) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
