100-seat cooperative training hostel at Gopalpur

A 100-seat hostel will be constructed at the centre for cooperative management (CCM), Gopalpur, in Ganjam district at the cost of Rs 2.76-crore.

Berhampur: A 100-seat hostel will be constructed at the centre for cooperative management (CCM), Gopalpur, in Ganjam district at the cost of Rs 2.76-crore. Cooperation and excise minister Damodar Rout laid the foundation stone for the hostel and guest house on the institute premises on Tuesday.
The old hostel with an accommodation capacity of 40 was damaged in Phailin in October 2013.
The employees who are trained at the cooperative institute will be housed in the new hostel, said director of Odisha State Cooperative Union (OSCU) Sanatan Sangram Singh.
Higher education minister Pradeep Panigrahy and MLA (Berhampur) R C Chyaupatnaik along with the presidents of different cooperative organisations attended the meeting.
The 54-year old CCM is functioning under OSCU. Around 40 in-service employees of the cooperative department are being trained at the centre, said a senior faculty member of the centre D Krishnananda.
