P.C. George, MLA, made a punchy speech in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday though he had only 60 seconds to deliver it.
The debate on the Governor’s speech had droned on for nearly an hour when Mr. George rose to speak. “You have only one minute,” Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan said.
The narrow window of time allotted to Mr George seemed only to have added edge and focus to his attack on the ruling and Opposition benches.
He first turned his sights on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and then took on the Opposition.
“This is truly a Pinarayi government. Not a namesake one like that of previous Chief Ministers. There is no one in the party or government who can stand up to Pinarayi. It is only Pinarayi and none else. I applaud him. Even the CPI(M) State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan is no where to be seen,” he said. Mr. George words, which dripped of cynicism, were not lost on the ruling benches. They protested loudly.
Mr. George neither objected nor opposed the Governor’s speech.
