Teenager stabbed 18 times
Nagpur: Akshay Sahare, 18, was assaulted and stabbed 18 times by three brothers in front of MLA Vikas Kumbhare’s office at Golibar Square on Tuesday. Accused Chinchghare brothers have been slapped with attempt to murder by Tehsil police and they have been arrested after injured Sahare named them as assailants.
The brothers, identified as Roshan (23), Sachin (20) and Ankush (18), earlier in the day had a tiff with Sahare over muck getting splashed on them when the victim was driving past by them on his scooter.
Roshan works in the marketing wing of a private firm while Sachin is employed with a grocery shop. Their younger brother Ankush runs a roadside eatery. The brothers are learnt to have used a kitchen knife to attack Sahare before fleeing from the spot.
According to sources, Sahare, a standard XII student, was returning to his residence in Telipura on a two-wheeler when, near Naik Talao, muck got splashed on the brothers who were passing by. This led to heated exchange between them. The brothers, who had no previous records, dared Sahare to meet them near the MLA’s office where Ankush runs the eatery.
Sahare, who too seemed to have accepted the challenge, visited the spot. The brothers too were present there. On seeing Sahare there, the trio thrashed him. Even as two of his brothers were pounding Sahare, Ankush started stabbing the complainant with a kitchen knife. Sahare was stabbed 18 times, said police. The trio soon fled from the spot.
Senior PI Santosh Khandekar of Tehsil police station said Sahare approached police station in profusely bleeding condition from where he was rushed to hospital.
In his statement, Sahare named the Chinchghare brothers a the assailants.
On Wednesday, police nabbed all three brothers. They would be presented before the court on Thursday.
