2 robbers arrested

AMRITSAR: The Civil Lines police today claimed to have busted a gang of robbers and arrested two persons in this regard. Those arrested were identified as Mohna, alias Mona, of Sanjay Gandhi Colony, Faizpura, and Avtar Singh of Fateh Singh Colony.

The Civil Lines police today claimed to have busted a gang of robbers and arrested two persons in this regard.

Those arrested were identified as Mohna, alias Mona, of Sanjay Gandhi Colony, Faizpura, and Avtar Singh of Fateh Singh Colony.

Their third accomplice Raju of Loonmandi area was still at large.

The police have recovered 260 gm narcotic powder from the accused’s possession. They also seized the scooter on which they were travelling.

Sukhwinder Singh Randhawa, SHO, Civil Lines police, said the accused used to attack their victims with sharp-edged weapons and would later rob them of their belongings. During interrogation, they confessed that they had robbed the scooter from the Ranjit Avenue area on June 26. Randhawa said the gang was wanted in as many as 12 different cases registered at various police stations. He said they were being produced in the court for police remand and further investigations were under progress.
