Former RJD MP from Siwan, Mohammed Shahabuddin.

Patna: Incarcerated former RJD MP Shahabuddin was on Wednesday taken to New Delhi by Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express for his treatment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
A team of 24 police personnel, including an inspector, two sub-inspectors and deputy superintendent of central jail, Gaya, Amarjeet Singh, has accompanied Shahabuddin who boarded the train at Naugachhia, about 22km from Bhagalpur.
He will reach New Delhi on Thursday.
Shahabuddin, who complained of acute back pain two days after he was shifted to special central jail in Bhagalpur on May 19, was kept in the hospital ward of the jail. He was shifted from Siwan district jail after senior journalist Rajdeo Ranjan's murder on May 13.
Shahabuddin was referred to AIIMS, Delhi, by three different teams of doctors which examined him at the Bhagalpur jail on June 17. He had undergone spinal surgery at AIIMS in 2006.
IG (prisons) Anand Kishor said no family member accompanied Shahabuddin who would be kept in the jail ward of AIIMS.
On Tuesday, Shahabuddin had filed a petition before a special court set up inside the Siwan district jail, fearing threat to his life at the hands of the state government as he was not being allowed to go to AIIMS for treatment.
