QPR have signed defender Joel Lynch from Sky Bet Championship rivals Huddersfield for an undisclosed fee.

Lynch, 28, has agreed a three-year deal with QPR and is manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's second summer signing.

"He's a high-calibre centre-half at this level and offers us something a little bit different to the other central defenders we've already got," Hasselbaink told the Hoops' official website.

"He's left-sided, which will give us better balance, and has that ability to bring the ball out from the back and play, which will hopefully allow us to control the game from a deeper position."

Lynch, who has one senior Wales cap, made 40 appearances for Huddersfield last season, scoring two goals.

He joined the West Yorkshire club for an undisclosed fee from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2012, having started out at Brighton.

"This is a massive opportunity for me to improve as a player," Lynch said.
