NEW DELHI: In a major catch, the National Investigation Agency has detained 11 suspected Islamic State members from Hyderabad who were planning major attacks at religious sites, government buildings and VVIPs.
The agency has recovered huge cache of explosives, arms and ammunitions apart from air guns from their possession.
The IS module is being called "Hyderabad module", which was in touch with a Syria based handler of the self proclaimed caliphate.

Sources say that the group was active for past few months and they were interacting with each other in code language on different internet based apps like Telegram, Messenger etc.
Officials say that this is a new module which was indicted by Syria based person to carry lone wolf attacks in India. The suspects, sources say, had even done during practice at an undisclosed place in Hyderabad.
Seven of the detained IS members are being termed as "strikers" and 4 are logistics providers.
They are being interrogated at length to know if they have links with IS module busted in January this year led by Muddabir Sheikh and if their handler is somebody who is from India. NIA had arrested 25 persons earlier this year as part of another IS module.
