Kate Upton Is Engaged, Flaunts Huge Diamond Ring at Met Gala

Sorry, fellas, your dream girl is off the market.
Actress and model Kate Upton is engaged to Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander. The 23-year-old Sports Illustrated model confirmed the news to E! on Monday night at the Met Gala.
“He asked me right before the season started, so we’ve been keeping it on the down low for quite a while, so I’m excited to finally be able to share it with the world,” Upton revealed on the red carpet.

Upton added that she isn’t in a rush to get to the altar as they “are enjoying the engagement period.” And she’s clearly enjoying that beautiful ring. The Other Woman star stunned at the event in a custom Topshop silver gown and wore minimal jewelry, letting her large diamond sparkler speak for itself.

Upton and Verlander, 33, have been dating for about four years. They met while shooting a video game commercial in February 2012. The pair took a break in 2013 and she briefly dated Dancing With the Stars pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy. However, by the start of 2014, Upton and Verlander reconciled and became more serious than ever.

“Kate’s there a lot for me,” Verlander told Forbes of their relationship. “And we’re just normal people. You know, normal relationship — believe it or not.”

“For us, we always try and work on our communication,” Upton told E! in March, when asked for their secret to a lasting relationship. “We’re very open with one another and we’re each other’s best friend. He’s definitely my best friend, so I think that helps a lot.”
