The chances of Paul Pogba, one of the world's most in-demand midfielders, moving to Manchester United appeared to decrease this week after Juventus team mate Dani Alves claimed the Frenchman would stay at the Serie A club.

Pogba, currently starring for France at UEFA Euro 2016, has been linked with a host of Europe's elite clubs, with Mino Raiola, his agent, confirming preliminary talks with Real Madrid last week.

"I expect to play alongside him, which is going to be a great honour. There are other incredible players in this team as well, who also have a lot to say for themselves," Alves said of Pogba.

"I'm truly delighted to share this experience with them. A team is formed up of individuals, and it's when they come together that you can achieve results."

Jose Mourinho is known to be searching for a tough, creative central midfielder but may have been put off by the 23-year-old's price, which would almost certainly come close to a world record transfer fee of over £80 million (€106.5 million).

Pogba and France face Iceland on Sunday at Stade de France in Paris, in a Euro 2016 quarter-final that would have contained England, but for its humiliating defeat on Monday evening.
