Ghaziabad: A 21-year-old married woman was allegedly gang-raped inside a moving Hyundai Santro car in Ghaziabad on Monday evening after she was made to consume a soft drink laced with sedatives. She was then dumped in an unconscious state near Lal Quan off NH-24.
The results of a medical test conducted on the woman on Tuesday are awaited. The woman lives in Noida with her husband who paints houses.
Her husband told TOI that one of the two accused, Virender Nagar, was known to their family.
An FIR was registered under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 376D (gang rape) of the IPC at the Sihani Gate police station against Virender and an unidentified person on Tuesday.
"My wife was not able to identify the other person who was accompanying Virender in the car. She had gone to Bhatia Mod in Ghaziabad for some work on Monday from where the men picked her up sometime between 7pm and 8pm. They dumped her near NH-24 at 11pm. The men kept driving the car throughout this period without halting anywhere," the complainant told TOI.
According to police, Virender had spotted the woman near Bhatia Mod and lured her into the car by lying to her that her husband had met with an accident. He then offered to drop her home. She was then made to consume a soft drink following which she felt dizzy and fainted.
