Various universities, organizations and individuals from North Karnataka are generously donating books to the library being constructed by the Kannada Studies Chair at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

Hubballi: Various universities, organizations and individuals from North Karnataka are generously donating books to the library being constructed by the Kannada Studies Chair at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Head of the Chair, Purushothama Bilimale said that about 3,000 books have been collected for the library as of now.
He said that there is a good response from universities and organizations from the state, especially North Karnataka.

"We have spoken over phone with heads of universities and organizations and are writing to them next week," he said.
He said that the Kannada and culture department has promised to provide all its publications free of cost. "Apart from this, Na Damodar Shetty and Laxman Kodse have donated books from their collection," he said.
Bilimale said that thousands of students at JNU are enthusiastic about Karnataka and Kannada and the library is aimed at meeting their research and study requirements.
Prof Mallika Ghanti, vice-chancellor, Kannada University, Hampi, said that she will offer the varsity's publications free of cost.
Prof K Chinnappagowda, vice-chancellor, Karnataka Folklore University, Gotgodi, Haveri, said that he is providing about 75 books published by the varsity at a 50% discount. "I am also giving about 25 books, authored, edited and published by me. However, I will not charge for my personal books," he said.
Prof Shyamsundar Bidarkundi, chairman, Dr Da Ra Bendre National Memorial Trust, Dharwad, said they have double sets of over 100 publications from donors which can be donated free of cost. Basavaraj Sulibhavi, founder, Ladai Prakashana, said that he is ready to offer 105 publications at half the cost.
