Pickpocket held for murder after 4 years

Pune: A 30-year-old pickpocket, on the run after murdering his accomplice in Karnataka in 2012, was arrested from Yerwada on Monday.
The Pune crime branch (unit-V) team led by senior inspector M M Mujawar arrested Mosin alias Baba Badesaab Shaikh, originally from Yadgir district in Karnataka but currently residing in Yerwada, with the help of a tip-off.

Shaikh and his accomplice Amar Kamble, from Solapur, used to pick pockets in trains and share the loot. "By 2012, Shaikh and Kamble and their accomplices had collected around Rs 50,000. To share the amount, they all went to Shaikh's native place," assistant inspector of the crime branch Mahadev Waghmode said.
Kamble then got into a fight with Shaikh over sharing the money. Angered by this, Shaikh and others beat up Kamble. Waghmade said, "Shaikh stabbed Kamble to death by using antlers. The other suspects chopped Kamble's body parts, set them on fire and dumped the remains into a river, in Karnataka."
Karnataka police registered the offence of murder against unknown persons.
On Monday, police constables Laxman Shinde and Sachin Gholap received a tip-off that Shaikh would be near his house. "We laid a trap and took him into custody," Waghmode said.

During the questioning, Shaikh admitted to his involvement in Kamble's murder. Shaikh has cases of attempt to murder, dacoity and body offences registered against him. "We have handed him over to the Karnataka police," Waghmode added.
