Mission Admission: Group-C courses for reserved category almost full

Reserved category seats in four courses of Group-C in CET-2016 got filled in first few hours of first counselling session conducted at Electronic Media and Research Centre (EMRC) of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) on Tuesday.

INDORE: Reserved category seats in four courses of Group-C in CET-2016 got filled in first few hours of first counselling session conducted at Electronic Media and Research Centre (EMRC) of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) on Tuesday. The counselling was conducted to fill the reserved category seats in MBA (hospital administration), MTech (IT), MCA and BPharma courses.
Along with the reserved category candidates, general category students having under 200 AIR were also called in the counselling to lock seats. In the counselling, ST category candidates who had got rank from 1 to 143 were called whereas for SC and OBC category students with CET ranking 120 were called. Out of total 135 reserved category seats, over 125 seats got filled by the time counselling concluded. In the morning counselling session, reserved category were called to lock nearly 135 seats in aforesaid courses whereas in the evening seats were opened for general category students.
While in reserved category, seats in MBA (HA) and MTech courses got filled completely, only a few seats in MCA and BPharma course were left by the time counselling concluded on Tuesday.
However, in general category admission closed in MTech course quite early. Though candidates with under 200 AIR were called for counselling, admission closed in the course in under 100 AIR. Seats in MBA (HR), MCA and BPharma course were still vacant. These seats will be offered to unreserved category students on Wednesday when counselling commence. More than 50% seats in these remained vacant.
DAVV media coordinator, Prof. Chandan Gupta said, "As varsity administration reduced course duration of MTech course from five-and-half-year to five year, it attracted attention of aspirants. Seats got filled early even as number of seats was increased from 40 to 60 this year."
He added saying that those candidates who have locked seats on day two have been given a three-day time to pay their fees.
