No oil leak, says ONGC

June 29, 2016 12:00 am | Updated September 16, 2016 04:58 pm IST - NAGAYALANKA (KRISHNA):

ONGC authorities on Tuesday said that there was no leakage of oil from the Nagayalanka field.

ONGC expert Murugesan and Nagayalanka tehsildar S. Narasimha Rao conducted technical tests at a pond in Nangegedda village, where two buffaloes died on Friday.

Tension prevailed in the village after news of leakage of oil broke out.

“A post mortem has confirmed that the two buffaloes died because of electric shock as they came in contact with an electric pole in the local pond,” stated Mr. Narasimha Rao.

An oil well owned by the ONGC is located at least 2 km away from the village and its operation is yet to begin.

In 2010, Cairn India Limited (CIL) explored the oil field. An ONGC official said oil exploration from Nagayalanka was a joint venture with the CIL.
