PKGB records Rs. 103.77 crore net profit

Pragathi Krishna Gramin Bank (PKGB), headquartered in Ballari, having jurisdiction over 11 districts, has registered a net profit of Rs. 103.77 crore for the financial year 2015-16, recording a 63 per cent increase over the previous year’s.

Highlighting the bank’s performance, R. Ravikumar, chairman of the bank, told presspersons here on Tuesday that the growth in the bank’s total business was up by 20.24 per cent by adding Rs. 3,939 crore new business to reach Rs. 23,401 crores compared to Rs. 19,462 crore in the previous year.

“At the end of March, the bank had a total clientele base of 88 lakh, of which 78 lakh were under deposits and 10 lakh under advances,” he said.

He said that the aggregate deposits increased to Rs. 12,278 crore against Rs. 10,105 crore in the previous year with a growth rate of 21.51 per cent.

As far as advance outstanding was concerned, he said, the bank had advanced Rs. 11,123 crore, recording a growth of 18.87 per cent over the previous year’s Rs. 9,357 crore.

“Among advances, a major chunk of Rs. 9,682 crore was towards the priority sector which constituted 87.04 per cent of total advances as against the mandatory 60 per cent.

The agriculture sector was given Rs. 7,803 crore, Rs. 1,360 crore more than in the previous year, and the achievement under annual action plan was 122 per cent,” he said and added that the net non-performing asset (NPA) of the bank stood at 1.96 per cent.
